Residents need protection in OMB Battles - Report of Ontario Commissioner of the Environment

Concerned citizens have spent countless time and money fighting against developments that are harmful to both the environment and the community. When these objections get appealed to the OMB, citizens are exposing themselves to losing more of their money - to lawsuits from the developers. The sad case is that residents are not on a level playing field as developers when these cases go before the OMB. Developers have deep pockets to hire professionals to make their case. Citizens, on the other hand, have little money to hire professionals - and are hard pressed to sit at these OMB hearings day after day.
